HOG'S BREATH MORAYFIELD WINNER IN NATIONAL SERVICE AWARD

When the very popular Hog's Breath Cafe group opened its first restaurant in 1989 it committed itself to being unlike any other restaurant in appearance, atmosphere, style and service. This very different positioning - obvious as you enter any Hog's Breath restaurant with walls crowded with unusual paraphernalia and memorabilia - has created a unique dining experience that is proving popular in the Australian marketplace.

Hog's Breath is a franchise group wholly Australian owned by its Australian management and franchisees. The group recognises that, as with any business, creating and maintaining the product that enables enjoyment of the "fun" requires a serious and disciplined organisational program and that in a franchise operation, in business as in sport, competition increases performance.

The group runs an extensive and intensive Awards program for its 68 franchisees, based on performance and commitment to excellence across all aspects of their operations.

After six months of judging of all restaurants, the latest and newest award which recognises the Best Front of House Team was completed in the last week of April with the winner of the National Grand Final challenge being the team from Hog's Breath Morayfield which celebrated its second birthday in December last year (2006)..

The winning team received an all expenses paid trip to Fiji, so team members Rebecca Illidge, Stina Anderson and Tammie Moore, together with Franchisees Geoff Hargreaves and Kym Daley, will be packing their bags and jumping on a plane at the end of May.

Teams from all 68 restaurants were judged by a management group on the three major factors that make a great Hog's Breath Front of House Team - Team work, Personality and "Hog'spitality".

The twenty five semi finalists were reduced to five finalists, whose teams were given an all expenses paid trip to Queensland to compete in the Grand Final.

The five Grand Final teams represented Morayfield and Logan from Queensland, Coffs Harbour and Narellan from NSW and Joondalup from WA.

The challenge was to work within a Hog's Breath Restaurant that was not their own and model the procedures and policies implemented within the system to ensure consistency as a franchise. The teams worked within all areas of the restaurant from making coffees and cocktails to handling complaints and checking meal quality.
